Don’t overpay for reliable internet. Compare prices across all speed tiers, sometimes faster packages cost less due to promotions.
Faster speeds don’t always mean higher prices. Providers often discount higher speed packages to win customers. Compare actual monthly and total costs rather than assuming slower speeds save money.
Rural areas have different options than city centres. Use our postcode checker to see what’s actually available at your address and compare real speeds in your area.
Setup fees, router charges, and mid contract price rises add hundreds to your bill. We show all costs upfront so you know exactly what you’ll pay.

Check your early termination fee first, some new providers will pay it for you. Or try haggling with your current provider’s retention team. Use our ETF calculator to see if switching saves money overall.

Most people will pay somewhere between £29 and £40 per month. The median across the 112 deals we track sits at £33. If budget is tight, the cheapest 12-month package on the market is the YouFibre You 200 at £20 per month for a 200Mbps full fibre connection. At the opposite end, premium multi-gigabit packages reach £49 per month for 2.3Gbps, and extreme 7Gbps deals climb to £99.99 per month. Your final price depends mostly on the speed you pick and whether the altnets have laid cable on your street.
That depends entirely on who you sign with. Just under half of the 12-month market (48.2%) is fixed-price for the full term. You pay the same figure every single month until the contract ends. The other 51.8% of deals build in a mid-contract rise of roughly £3 to £4 per month, typically kicking in around March or April 2027. If price certainty matters to you, stick with a fixed-price provider. Plenty of altnets now offer this as a point of difference against the big networks.
Far more than you probably need. Entry-level 12-month deals start at 50 to 100Mbps, which is fine for one or two people browsing and streaming. Most households land in the 200 to 500Mbps range, and this is where the pricing is most competitive. Gigabit speeds of 900Mbps and above are available on 33 of the 112 live deals, and every single one of the 13 suppliers in the 12-month market offers a gigabit tier. The median deal on the market runs at 350Mbps. If you want genuine overkill, multi-gigabit and 7Gbps packages are available, but very few homes have the hardware to actually use speeds that high.
Almost. 95% of 12-month deals use full fibre (FTTP), which means the cable runs directly into your property rather than stopping at a street cabinet. The remaining 4% are older FTTC connections from POP Telecom and Rebel Internet, and less than 1% rely on ancient ADSL copper lines. Availability comes down entirely to your postcode. Two houses on the same road can have completely different options depending on which altnet has dug up their pavement. Always check coverage before you fall in love with a specific deal.
They are a nice bonus, not a reason to choose a deal. Only 8 of the 112 twelve-month packages come with switching credits, and these are exclusive to BeFibre and Zzoomm. Credits run from £100 up to £300 on their fastest 2.3Gbps packages. They are genuinely useful if you are paying off an early exit fee from a previous provider, but do the maths properly. A deal that is £5 per month cheaper over 12 months saves you £60, which often beats a one-off £100 credit on a pricier contract.
No, and anyone telling you otherwise is oversimplifying. A 12-month contract wins on flexibility. You can switch providers, upgrade speeds, or move house without paying brutal early termination fees after your first year. They also tend to include more fixed-price options, so no nasty surprises mid-contract. The trade-off is that headline monthly prices can be slightly higher than the cheapest 24-month equivalents. If you own your home, are not moving, and want the absolute lowest monthly payment, a longer contract might save you money. If you value flexibility or price certainty, 12 months is the right call.
